TWO WORDS:  CHOCOLATE and COFFEE

What could be more decadent and luxurious?

On the flip side, what could be more difficult?!?!  A full 4-course meal full of savory dishes where each item MUST include either chocolate or coffee??  We didn’t want to end up with 4 courses of dessert.  Thus, the challenge is presented: Game on 🙂

In addition to the challenging ingredients, we also decided to up the ante and instead of our usual girly evening together, we decided to invite some  men along for the ride.  Now we we’re looking at a full sit-down dinner for 14: 7 Chefs’ Club gurus and 7 male guests…..

Were we up to the challenge?  How did we fare?!?!!?

In the end, those of us with savory dishes did quite a lot of research on how to use these ingredients accordingly….everything was wonderful!

  • Appetizer/Soup –  All of us together – Mer found the recipe, though! – Brie Bruschetta with Pear and Chocolate Wine Sauce
  • Salad Course – Meredith –
  • Main Dish – Laura andKelly (2 people to share main since it was such a large guest dinner!) – Pork with Coffee Barbeque Marinade and Rub
  • Side – Kim – Baked Beans
  • Side – Erin –
  • Dessert – Stacey – Chocolate fondant
  • Before/After Dinner Drink –  Sarah – Chocolate Martinis
  • Music – Kelly
  • Wine – our guests – Thanks to: Sam, Dave, Matt, Chris, James, Christopher, Ryan, and Ken

Special ingredients for September:

  • Coffee
  • Chocolate

Adding the coffee-ground rub to the pork (after it has marinated for several hours). We then seared it and then baked it until it reached an internal temp of 155 degrees. I don't know what I'd do without a meat thermometer!
